The short version

  • The main site, campusvoice.me, has no accounts. The calculators run in your browser and send nothing to us.
  • If you agree, Google Analytics counts visits and Google AdSense shows ads, both with cookies. If you don't, they get no cookies and ads aren't personalised.
  • If you write to us, or ask for your college to be added, we keep what you send so we can reply.
  • Each college site, such as pce.campusvoice.me, has accounts and its own privacy notice.

Who runs the site

Campus Voice is run independently by students. No college listed on it runs it or receives the data described here. You can reach the people who run it through the contact page or at [email protected].

What's stored

  • Calculators: nothing. The numbers you type stay in your browser.
  • Contact messages: your name, the email you give for the reply, the topic and your message.
  • College requests: the college name and city, and an email only if you leave one.
  • Server records: the address a request came from is held in memory for a few minutes to slow down abuse, then forgotten. It isn't written to the database.

Cookies, analytics and ads

The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we may use cookies from Google. Your answer is kept in your browser (as cv-consent in local storage), not on our server.

  • Google Analytics counts visits and pages viewed, so we know which tools are useful. Before anything is sent, the address is cleaned: query strings are removed, apart from campaign tags.
  • Google AdSense shows ads on the main site, which pay for the server. Google may use cookies to choose ads. Ads are never shown on college sites or the admin site.

If you choose "Only necessary", Google receives cookieless signals only, and ads are not personalised. You can change your mind at any time: open the cookie choices again. Google explains how it uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

College sites

Each college has its own site, such as pce.campusvoice.me, where students sign up with their college email. Those sites store accounts, reviews, complaints and community posts, and each has its own privacy notice describing exactly what's kept. They use Google Analytics the same way, with the same choice, and show no ads.

How long it's kept

  • Contact messages and college requests stay until they've been dealt with. Ask and we'll remove yours.
  • Google keeps Analytics data for 14 months.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, for it to be corrected, or for it to be deleted, through the contact page. You can also block cookies in your browser; the site works without them.
