Marks calculator
What you need in the end-semester exam to pass or reach the percentage you want, from your internal marks so far. Also works as a final grade calculator when the final is a share of the grade.
The answer updates as you type. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How it's worked out
With S internal marks out of I, a final out of F and a target t:
needed = ⌈t × (I + F) − S⌉
When the final is a share w of the grade and you have c so far:
needed = (t − c × (1 − w)) ÷ w
Worth knowing
- Some universities scale or moderate marks after the exam. This shows the raw marks needed.
- If the final has its own pass mark, enter it: passing overall usually needs both.
- Aim a few marks above the number shown, in case a question is marked harder than you expect.

How do I calculate the marks I need in my final exam?
Add what the internal marks and the final are each out of, multiply by your target percentage, and subtract the internal marks you already have. With 22 of 30 internal marks, a final out of 70 and a 60% target, you need 60 − 22 = 38 in the final.
What if my final is a percentage of the grade instead?
Use the weighted grade tab. With 70% so far and a final worth 40% of the grade, reaching 75% overall needs (75 − 70 × 0.6) ÷ 0.4 = 82.5% in the final.
My college has a minimum pass mark in the final. Does this handle it?
Yes. Enter the pass mark for the final and the calculator never asks for less than that, even when your internals would carry you.
Does it round the answer?
Marks are rounded up to the next whole mark, because 37.2 marks still means you need 38 on the paper.
How many marks do I need to pass if my internals are 30 and the final is out of 70?
If passing needs 40% overall, you need 40 of 100 in total. Subtract your internal marks: with 18 of 30 you need 22 of 70 in the final, as long as that also clears the final's own minimum if your university has one.
